Hello. Pro is the retail version which has more bells and whistles. I've had Pro for so long, I'm not sure exactly what the differences are between it and the free version are now. Whenever Jdobbs updates Pro owners get an email notice. Most of the more recent updates have only been for obscure fine tuning. It's an excellent program and the price is definitely good for what you get. The Basic CCE is a good choice for a retail encoder to go with it. A friend sold me SP at a reasonable price, so I have a more high end setup. CCE SP is no longer for sale since CCE started selling SP2. Basic is still available for $40 or so. The free encoders work well too. Hanks does a good job. Unless you find a good deal, SP2 isn't a very good deal for most users at about $2000.
